MARKÉTA DVOŘÁKOVÁ se narodila roku 1977 v Opavě, vystudo-vala klavír a kompozici na Janáčkově konzervatoři v Ostravě, na JAMU v Brně pak absolvovala magisterské i doktorandské studium pod vedením Leoše Faltuse a Ivo Medka.
Zúčastnila se mnoha zahraničních kurzů u světoznámých osobností a získala za své skladby množství ocenění, mezi které lze řadit např. výroční cenu OSA v kategorii „Nejúspěšnější mladý autor vážné hudby“. Je členkou sdružení mladých skladatelek Hudbaby, Sdružení Q a Multi-Art.
Skladatelka pedagogicky působí na Janáčkově konzervatoři a Gymnáziu v Ostravě a na Janáčkově akademii múzických umění v Brně.
Klavírní cyklus Bígl vznikl roku 1998 v absolventském ročníku konzervatoře a byl inspirován venkovskými obrázky u babičky. Líčí první den štěněte bígla, které dostalo jméno Zorka a stalo se novým členem rodiny. Kočka Matěj a slepice byli prvními stvořeními, se kterými se seznámilo, pak si poslechlo babiččino vyprávění, vydalo se na procházku a uložilo ke spánku. Odtud tedy názvy částí – Kočka Matěj, Slepice, Babička vypravuje, Na procházce a Ukolébavka.
MARKÉTA DVOŘÁKOVÁ was born in Opava in 1977 and studied piano and composition at the Janáček music academy in Ostrava. She completed her M.A. and her Ph.D. at the JAMU in Brno in the classes of Leoš Faltus and Ivo Medek.
She has participated in master classes of many world-famous artists and has received numerous prizes for her compositions, such as the annual award of the Czech Authors Guild (OSA) for the Most Successful Young Classical Music Author. She is a member of associations of young composers Hudbaby, Sdružení Q and Multi-Art.
She teaches at the Janáček music academy, the grammar school in Ostrava, and the JAMU in Brno.
She composed her piano cycle Bígl (Beagle) in her final year at the music academy. It was inspired by village-life scenes at her grandmother’s and narrates the story of the first day of a beagle puppy named Zorka, a new member of the family. A cat named Matěj and the chickens were
the first creatures it met. Later, it listened as the grandmother told it a story, it went for a walk,
and finally lay down to sleep. Correspondingly, the individual parts of the composition are called
Matěj the Cat, The Chickens, The Grandmother Tells a Story, A Walk, and The Lullaby.
